Water Sports Facilty, Cwealth Games, New Delhi

With a long-term view of boosting Delhi’s chances of hosting the Asian & Olympic games, & the immediate objective of including the sport of Rowing & Canoeing in the 2010 Commonwealth games, the Master plan proposal for the water sports complex is based primarily on providing for international level water sport infrastructure for the city.

SSAs scheme provides for a water sports complex including an eight lane 2 Km. long rowing & canoeing course, a white water slalom course and leisure boating for amateurs. The proposal includes suggestions on improvement of water quality, building of weirs at both ends of the stretch of canal, realignment of canal, construction of single span bridges either ends and relevant land acquisition for providing permanent infrastructure.
