Rudraksh Farmhouse, Delhi

For over two decades they lived comfortably in their three bedroom apartment in the posh Greater Kailash locality of south Delhi. The idea of living on a farm took root on one of their annulal vacations in Bali where they were fascinated with the tropical Balinese style of Architecture.

SSA’s design for the farmhouse, set on an L- shaped plot of land combines the traditional elements of the distinctive ‘Balinese style’of planning with clean architectural elements, pure geometric volumes and strong elegant lines which speak a modern language.

The house is accessed by crossing over a shallow lily pool lined with shimmering blue-bronze mosaic tiles. The entrance lobby with a delicate floral pattern leads to the central living room. The double height living room with its pyramidical roof & sheer clerestoreys, is the pivot around which the rest of the house is designed. Flanked on either side by the lavish dining room & the family den, the real charm of this space is the fantastic view of the swimming pool & its surrounding greenery.

Private family rooms are all planned on the upper floor, all overlooking the intricately designed swimming pool with an infinity edge and a medley of light & dark blue ceramic tiles.

Shimmering pavilions, brilliant blue water bodies, open verandahs and a living rooms that invites the outside landscaping in – all are a part of the Balinese style experience.
