New British Library, Delhi

One of the most loved libraries in the city, the British library desperately needed a complete makeover. SSA was approached by the client to completely re-orient the interiors to engage with the young generation, their likes & taste. There had to be coffee, music & fun!

SSA designed the new library as the complete opposite of everything you imagined in a traditional library. No rows & rows of tables & chairs & no shelves full of books in sight anywhere!

At the refurbished library, you are greeted with a playful riot of colours, snazzy looking lounge chairs in striking orange & electric blue, vast open spaces and cheerful artwork – an environment where you can relax – mentally & physically. There is a coffee counter, a music console & art installations. All the books are cleverly tucked behind large graphic screens.

Much loved by the young (and old) visitors it’s definitely the new landmark in town!
